BAICALIN
Baicalin is a plant flavonoid from the root of Scutellaria baicalensis (Chinese helmetwort) with antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties.(1-2) In in-vitro studies, baicalin also showed that it could slow down cellular ageing processes through its antioxidant/anti-inflammatory effect.(3-4)
BEHENIC ACID
Behenic acid, also known as docosanoic acid, is a saturated fatty acid found in natural sources such as vegetable oils from Moringa oleifera seeds, and to a lesser extent in rapeseed and peanut oil.(1) Cosmetic products containing behenic acid as an emulsifier are characterized by high storage stability, even at high temperatures(2).
BEHENYL ALCOHOL
Behenyl alcohol is a long-chain fatty alcohol and is primarily used in skincare as an emollient or fat-soluble co-emulsifier. It helps stabilize oil-in-water emulsions and leaves the skin feeling soft and smooth.(1-2)
BENZYL NICOTINATE
Benzyl nicotinate stimulates blood circulation and thus ensures the desired reddening and swelling of the skin for a more voluminous effect in lip plumping products, for example(1).
BETAINE
Betaine is a natural humectant. In cosmetics, it is used as an ingredient that binds moisture and keeps the skin supple. At the same time, betaine helps protect the skin from drying out. (1)
BIFIDA FERMENT LYSATE
Bifida Ferment Lysate is a biotechnologically produced postbiotic from bifidobacteria. We use a lysate: the bacteria are inactivated, while metabolic products, cytoplasmic fractions, cell wall components and polysaccharide complexes are retained. According to the manufacturer, the ferment can counteract UV-induced stress and activate natural cell protection processes - with the aim of preventing signs of premature light-induced skin ageing.(1) Studies also show that the lysate can improve skin redness and irritation and modulate inflammatory reactions by reducing the release of inflammatory mediators.(2) By strengthening the resistance of the skin barrier, it helps the skin to defend itself against oxidative and inflammatory stress. It also supports the formation of proteins that serve to stabilize the cell structures in the skin(3-4).
BIS-DIGLYCERYL POLYACYLADIPATE-2
Bis-Diglyceryl Polyacyladipate-2 is an emollient and has a high spreadability. It was developed as a substitute for the common allergen lanolin(1).
BIS ETHYLHEXYLOXYPHENOL METHOXYPHENYL TRIAZINE
Bis-ethylhexyloxyphenol methoxyphenyl triazine (BEMT) is a modern chemical UV filter with a particularly broad absorption spectrum of 280 to 400 nm. It protects against both UVA and UVB radiation and is considered to be very photostable. BEMT is oil-soluble and ideal for broad-spectrum formulations with a high SPF.
